We had to say goodbye to our little buddy Ewok last weekend. He passed away peacefully and comfortably at home. We spent his last days doing the things he loved and spending time at the beach, his favorite place. We were not expecting it to be so soon, he was 14 years old.
Ewok was a huge part of our lives. From living in Singapore, to career changes, getting married, moving to another country, getting our first apartment, our first house, and traveling all the major cities on the west coast, he was truly our best friend and the best traveling companion all these years. He was more than just a pet, he was our family, and we were the three musketeers.
He has never met a sun lounger or bench that he did not like. He loved going on walks, especially when he is in his stroller. He loved people watching then would pass out once he was done. He loves fried chicken, and is always begging when we eat. He loves going on car rides and going to the store or the farmers market in his stroller. He loved being outside, especially when its sunny. He always stops to smell the flowers on his walks, especially petunias when we are in the desert, and he loved us.
We still can’t believe that this is real, that he is no longer with us. We sure miss our little buddy and it has been such a weird couple of days. We keep asking him why he needed to have two types of cancer, and he would probably say, “it’s on sale, duh?”
